MOSCOW, Aug 10 (PRIME) -- Russia’s gross domestic product (GDP) fell by 4.6% on the year in April–June, speeding up from a 2.2% contraction in January–March, the Federal State Statistics Service said Monday citing preliminary estimates.
Russia’s Economic Development Ministry previously preliminary estimated the country’s GDP contraction of 4.4% in April–June.
In 2014, the GDP rose 0.6%. The ministry projects GDP to decline 2.8% in 2015. Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev said earlier he expects the GDP to shrink by 2.8% in 2015, or even only by 2.5%, the recession to stop at the end of July–September and the GDP to start rising from October–December.
